Looking for inspiration for what to make next? Tricks for crocheting that intricate stitch? Tips for flipping (or not) the stitch in tatting? Techniques in Torchon bobbin lace? It’s here. Or will be soon. Look around, or send an email so I know what you need... or I may need.
Crocheting is in my blood, so to speak. My mom crocheted, as did my dad’s mom and her mom... that I know of. Great grandma also did tatting. But I never sat down to learn from them. Only after becoming an adult did I take the time to teach myself crochet... from scratch... before the internet.
I started with a granny square afghan. A single, ever growing, nearly endless granny square which ended up fitting a queen sized bed. But to learn tension and technique, and to make the project portable, I started crocheting with thread.
Since those early days in 2000, I’ve expanded my fiber manipulation to tatting and bobbin lace, learning at the hands of some truly wonderful women and great friends. And with their encouragement I’ve even braved the world of creating my own patterns and entering items into the state fair.
Where am I going from here? In whatever direction catches my eye, just like choosing what pattern I want to work on next. But whether it is a lulling and repetitive single stitch pattern, or intricate, detailed, and ever-changing pattern, I make sure there is always something for me to learn from it.
